Event Rule Updates & Logistics (Div C 2020)
Opening Ceremony
This is a reminder to please fill out this form so that we can improve our invitational experience for you and the students. Again, only one form per school is needed (include information for both teams in one form if you have multiple attending).
Registration forms (found here) will not be accepted at the Opening Ceremony.
Event Rule Updates
When advising your teams on preparing for the invitational please keep in mind the following test and build events have different rule specifications at the Regional and State level: Chem Lab, Code Busters, Geologic Mapping, Fossils, Forensics Water Quality Protein modeling Sounds of music Detector building Gravity Vehicle Machines. Unless otherwise noted, we will be following State level rules for events.
For Ping Pong Parachute, the launcher we will be using is imaged below. The height of the nipple on the launcher will be adjusted to fit the Nationals specifications in the rules. The outside diameter of the nipple is 2.25cm, and the launcher guide recommends using 1L bottles from the coke family. The launcher will be secured to thin wooden planks which will then be firmly secured to the floor. If you have any further questions about this event, please direct them to our Director of Build Events, Matthew Ko (mk2282@cornell.edu).
For trial events, Green Generation will be following the 2016 season rules/guidelines, Fermi Questions is following the 2018 season rules/guidelines, and Science Quiz Bowl is following the rules posted by the New York State Science Olympiad updated 11/05/2018.
We also ask that teams bring their own thermometers for Detector Building!
Schedule Updates
We were able to secure a great location for our Awards Ceremony, meaning all teams will now be able to fit in the venue rather than being split up into different rooms like in previous years! Awards will now be held in Bailey Hall, and will be starting at 7:00 PM. You will be able to stay in homerooms until 5:30 PM, and doors will open at 6 PM. This has been reflected in the schedule on our site, linked here.
Thank you all for your patience as always, please feel free to reach out individually with any additional questions as we get closer to the tournament date!
